I came home for lunch today, and to my pleasant surprise my man was home! Since both of us had about an hour before we had to get back to work, I decided to whip up a quick lunch. I opened my fridge to find ingredients for our impromptu lunch and this is what I came up with……
I’ll call this one:
Don’t forget to wash your hands.
1-cup brown rice (cooked)
2 tbsp. sesame oil
2 Habanero peppers, minced and de-seeded
1 clove of garlic, minced
1 leek, chopped
1/2-pound frozen shrimp (thawed on the stove-top)
4 whole carrots, diced
1/2 cup cauliflower, Chopped (got this cauliflower at my east village CSA, and it was bigger then my head in size and weight)
2 1/2 tbsp. soy sauce
1 tbsp. rice vinegar
2 tsp. Chinese 5-spice powder (delicious and great for digestion)
1/4 cup shrimp broth (use the ice/shrimp water from when you thawed the shrimp on the stove.)
Cook the rice according to the package directions.
Pour the sesame oil into a heated Wok and let the oil sit at medium-high heat until it begins to smoke. Once the oil begins to smoke toss in the garlic, onion, and Habanero and stir until the onion is transparent. Then, throw the shrimp into the Wok and cook until they are pink. Once they are pink add the rest of the veggies and the ingredients that make the sauce (soy sauce through Chinese 5-spice powder). Stir the mixture and simmer for about 5 minutes. Add the brown rice and stir until the rice is completely covered in sauce. Once the rice is completely covered and while the veggies are still bright turn off the stove (should be about 4 minutes).
Serve in a bowl with chopsticks.
Ok so here is the rest of the story……
After we eat we both get a little horny so he stood up and I undid his buckle… (you can imagine the rest). Then, in the middle of everything, I start to burn, fervently….gulp….down there!!!!
I worriedly ask “honey are you burning?”
“No I’m not burning.mmm…mmm…mmm…well, I’m really starting to burn….mmmm…..mmm.mm…..m…Jesus!!!!! I’m really really burning. OUCH!!!! OUCH!!!!! OUCH!!!!! I’M REALLY BURNING!!!!!!!! ”
Thank goodness I have worked with hot peppers a lot and been burned by them frequently. I knew exactly what to-do to cool down my sweet parts. I immediately made a milk bath for me to sit in. Ahh – releif!
So, the lesson here is that even though peppers are a sexy food (delicious, spicy, and loaded with vitamin C), they are not sexy if they get on your parts.
